Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026Ad filtering runs locally in your browser. The pages you read, your allowlist and your settings stay on your machine.
Our servers receive a random installation identifier, version and lifecycle pings, and aggregate blocking statistics — never your name, email or identity.
We do not sell, rent or trade any data, we do not build user profiles, and we do not use your data for advertising.
1. Scope and acceptance
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Ad Blocker Pro browser extension (the “Extension”, “we”, “us”) handles, where that information lives, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you. It applies to the Extension and to this website.
By installing or using the Extension you accept the practices described here. If any part of this policy is not acceptable to you, please do not install the Extension — and if it is already installed, uninstalling it stops all collection immediately.
2. Who is responsible for your data
The party responsible for the processing described in this policy (the “data controller”) is the publisher of Ad Blocker Pro. For every question, request or complaint relating to privacy, you can reach us at [email protected]. We respond to privacy inquiries in accordance with applicable law.
“Personal information” in this policy means any information relating to an identified or identifiable person. The Extension is deliberately designed to work without collecting the usual identifiers: it has no accounts, no sign-in, and never asks for your name, email address or payment details.
3. What happens on your device — and stays there
The Extension’s core work is performed entirely inside your browser:
- Page filtering. To detect and remove ads, the Extension reads the address and structure of the pages you open and applies its filter rules to them. This matching happens locally; the content of the pages you read is not transmitted to us.
- Settings and allowlist. Your preferences — including the per-site allowlist you control through the toolbar icon — are stored in your browser’s extension storage, on your device.
- Counters. The number of blocked items, shown on the badge and used for statistics, is computed and stored locally. Aggregate counter values are included in the telemetry described in section 4.
- Installation identifier. On first installation, our server issues a random identifier which the Extension stores on your device. It is not derived from your identity, hardware or browsing; its only purpose is to count installations and to key the statistics below to a single installation rather than to a person.
4. What our servers receive
The Extension communicates with our infrastructure at proadblocker.com in a small number of well-defined situations:
| Event | Data involved |
|---|---|
| Install / update / uninstall | The installation identifier, the Extension’s store ID and version, and aggregate counters (total ads blocked; number of searches during which the Extension was active). Like any web request, these calls also expose standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and operating system. |
| Filter list delivery | Version information needed to send your installation up-to-date filter lists and configuration. |
| Periodic usage statistics | Sent to proadblocker.com/stats/ and keyed to the installation identifier: the number of ads blocked per website (recorded against the domain name only) and information about visits to search-engine results pages. We use this to measure where our filters perform well and where they need work. |
| Support email | If you write to us, we receive what you send — typically your email address and your message. It is used only to answer you. |
5. Browser permissions, and why each one exists
Chrome asks you to grant the following permissions at installation. Each maps directly to a blocking function:
host_permissions / <all_urls>,activeTab— apply filter rules and cosmetic filters to the pages you load.declarativeNetRequest,webRequest— let the browser block requests to known ad servers using the Extension’s rule lists.scripting— inject the cosmetic filtering script that hides leftover ad elements.storage,unlimitedStorage— save your settings, allowlist and filter lists on your device.alarms— schedule maintenance tasks such as filter refreshes.tabs— show the per-tab blocking counter and apply per-site settings to the right tab.
The Extension requests no permission that is not needed for blocking, and no permission grants us access to your accounts, passwords or form data.
6. How we use the data
The data described above is used exclusively to:
- count installations, updates and uninstallations of the Extension;
- deliver updated filter lists and configuration to your installation;
- measure, in aggregate, how effectively ads are blocked across websites, so the filter lists can be maintained and improved;
- respond to support requests.
We do not use this data for advertising or marketing. We do not build profiles of users. We do not attempt to identify anyone.
9. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process data on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract — delivering the Extension you chose to install, including filter updates;
- Legitimate interest — operating, securing and improving the Extension, and counting installations in aggregate;
- Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required by law.
10. International transfers
The limited technical data described above may be processed in countries other than your own. Where that happens from the EEA, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. How long data is kept
- On your device: settings, allowlist, filter lists, counters and the installation identifier remain until you change them, clear your browser data, or uninstall the Extension.
- On our servers: telemetry linked to an installation identifier is retained for a maximum of 12 months, after which it is deleted or aggregated so that it can no longer be associated with any installation.
- Support correspondence: kept as long as needed to resolve your request and any follow-up.
12. Your rights and your controls
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Because the Extension keys its data to a random installation identifier rather than to your identity, the most direct controls are already in your hands:
- Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data and stops every transmission described in this policy.
- Requesting server-side deletion — write to [email protected] and we will delete the telemetry associated with your installation identifier in accordance with applicable law.
EU/EEA residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
13. Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to the limited data the Extension transmits, including access controls on our infrastructure. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed fully secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.
15. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as the Extension evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be visible on this page before they take effect. Continued use of the Extension after a revision becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
16. Contact
Questions, requests and complaints about privacy should be addressed to [email protected].
